Community Developers of Beaufort-Hyde, Inc. in Belhaven, NC will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Grant in the amount of $397,796. The applicant proposes to use their innovative grant to build a Construction Center that will strengthen their community by providing innovative housing and employment opportunities for low-income individuals, minorities, and other disadvantaged residents. Some of the organizations and businesses supporting the applicant are Beaufort County Community College the MultiCultural Agencies United for developmental disabilities. The proposed leveraging amounts to $189,000.

Hollister R.E.A.C.H., Inc. in Hollister, NC will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative grant in the amount of $190,570. The applicant proposes to use their Innovative award to help support their efforts in assisting the Hollister community in conducting a feasibility study to ascertain the alternative septic systems appropriate for the soil and topography germane to Hollister. This project will help identify failing systems due to poor soil permeability and high water levels, and to identify households with incomplete plumbing facilities. Some of the organizations and businesses supporting the applicant are the North Carolina Rural Communities Assistance Project, The Enterprise Alliance of Halifax, North Carolina State University, Native Opportunity Way, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service, just to list a few of those committed to this undertaking. Proposed leveraging in the amount of $81,750.

Lumbee Regional Development Association, Inc. in Pembroke, NC will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Grant in the amount of $376,328. The applicant proposes to use their innovative grant to increase the number of affordable housing units by constructing 30 units of housing and they propose to create a construction company to build the units thereby providing job training for their employees. Some of the organizations and businesses supporting the applicant are the Dietrich Design Group, Advanced Energy, Inc., the Town of Pembroke, the Roberson County Economic Development Office and the Pembroke Hardware Company. Proposed leveraging for this applicant is $503,200.
