HUD Neighborhood Stabilization Program Makes a Life Changing DifferenceWA remodeled home has new owners. The Sacramento Habitat for Humanity held a home dedication at 2380 North Avenue on June 18th. It was their second federal NSP (Neighborhood Stabilization Program) partnership with HUD and the Sacramento Housing Redevelopment Agency to acquire, remodel and sell foreclosed homes to qualified low income families. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) provided funding to perform a deep energy retrofit. SMUD project manager Mike Keesee stated, "...this (home) rivals any retrofit that I'm aware of in the country..." It has supported Sacramento Habitat for Humanity's entry of this project in several national "green building" award programs. The remodeled home's new owners are the Sousa's. The family has overcome great adversity to lead successful lives. See the link to the June 9th New York Times article on the Sousa family. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/12/fashion/weddings/clean-living-through-god-and-12-steps-state-of-the-unions.html?ref=weddings
