Final Two Days to Make Your Opinion Count About HUD's Workplace

Thursday, March 28, 2002

The Department's Organizational Assessment Survey of workplace satisfaction will end on Friday, March 29th. Secretary Martinez and Deputy Secretary Jackson believe that employee satisfaction is critical if we want to give our best service to the American people, and they strongly encourage you to take part in the survey - but to make their opinions count in this confidential survey, HUD staff must participate today or Friday.

Everyone has opinions about their job, but very few people have the chance to tell their employer - in complete confidence - what they like and don't like about the organization. HUD's Workplace Satisfaction survey is a unique opportunity: every HUD employee in every office in the nation can register his and her opinions, in confidence - and know that the results will be used to save the things we like about HUD and change the things we don't. The survey is being conducted for HUD by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Since it is designed to measure employee satisfaction, giving your honest opinions is important - they can make the HUD workplace better for every employee. HUD employees can find a direct link to the survey, as well as a login name and password, on the main page of hud@work, HUD's internal Intranet.

Once you have your login name and password, you can take the survey from any computer - in the office or at home, during the day or after work (please note: while you can take the survey from any computer, you cannot access HUD's internal Intranet from a computer that is not connected to HUD's network). All answers are completely confidential - but you must participate today or tomorrow. The survey ends at the close of business on Friday, March 29th.

The biggest problem identified by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) related to HUD's Organizational Assessment Survey is the significant number of HUD staff who have begun, but not completed, the survey! In order to measure employees' satisfaction with their HUD workplace, as many employees as possible need to participatebut the survey must be fully completed to have those opinions registered.

The greatest number who didn't finish the survey simply need to complete the final item which registers if the opinions are coming from Headquarters or a field office. Nothing about this or any other item can personally identify the respondent, but it is important to know where improvements must be made and/or where things are working well. Please complete this final section using the "tree" or drop down menu to select your Headquarters or field office.

Other employees have logged in, started the survey, but stopped before they registered their opinions to all of the statements. If you've started and saved your survey, please return and complete it. If you did not save your results on the first try, please log in again and start from the beginning.

Ultimately, summaries of the Workplace Satisfaction survey results will be available to all employees - but if you don't participate now, you'll never know the difference your opinions could make.

This is your workplace, and the workplace satisfaction survey is a unique opportunity to make it a better workplace for every HUD employee. Don't miss this opportunity!
