As part of Public Service Recognition Week, the Federal Executive Association (FEA) of Columbus and Central Ohio recognized "the best federal employees in Central Ohio." At a May 8th luncheon, three teams from HUD's Columbus Field Office were among those honored for their accomplishments in public service. The Central Ohio branch of the FEA represents more than 15,000 federal employees.
  • The Fair Housing Center Team from HUD's Midwest HUB won the Outstanding Customer Service Award for its dramatic reduction in outstanding fair housing cases. Through the team's efforts, the Midwest HUB reduced its aged case backlog from 84% to 38%. This is the first time in the history of the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity that it has had a fair housing case inventory of less than 50% aged.

  • The Columbus HUD Management Plan Team won the Outstanding Quality Improvement Award for its efforts to create a cross-program, multi-jurisdiction Management Plan to improve the quality process of planning, implementation and evaluation while improving the quality of client services. As a direct result, the Columbus Field Office exceeded all FY 01 national goals by an average of 64.5% and local goals by 62.6%. The Team included staff from all divisions.

  • The HUD Multi Family Production Team won the Outstanding Productivity or Process Improvement Award for its efforts to improve the efficiency of the financing, underwriting and approval process for multifamily developments. The nominated team implemented MAP (Multifamily Accelerated Processing) in concert with other traditional processing techniques which resulted in a 130% increase in financing in FY 2001.
