The event will take place in the HUD Cafeteria, and will be broadcast simultaneously to field offices across the country. You will hear about the full schedule of training events planned for headquarters and field offices on Wednesday, July 17th, and Thursday, July 18th, as well as other activities and events planned by the HUD Training Academy, its Board of Governors and Field Office Training Committees.

HUD staff in Headquarters and field offices said they wanted more and better training opportunities, and the theme for the week is "Training = Power and Potential." Through Friday, July 19th, HUD managers and staff can examine the critical role training plays as the Department carries out its mission, and how it can help all HUD employees reach their full potential. Secretary Martinez and Deputy Secretary Jackson encourage all employees to spend time learning about the many training opportunities now available - especially during National Training Awareness Week - and to take part in special activities like today's ceremony.

Employees also are encouraged to visit the HUD Training Academy's web site on HUD's intranet, hud@work. Find the training you need - from basic to expert - in areas like computer software programs that will make you more effective on the job, or prepare you to advance in your career. Or, learn how to develop an Individual Development Plan, get a course guide for all of the courses HUD is offering - on-line and in the classroom - and learn more about new HUD training initiatives.

HUD employees' enhanced skills and new expertise can make a difference in their careers, and also throughout the Department as we work to become the effective, high-performing agency our nation needs to help the people and communities we serve.
