President Bush has proclaimed today - Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - as "Patriot Day." It is a day to honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks…salute the heroes and say thank you…and recommit the nation to the pursuit of peace in the world and security at home.

All HUD employees are invited take part in this special event by joining the Secretary and Deputy Secretary for a brief ceremony this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. (EDT) in the HUD Cafeteria, or by watching the broadcast on HUD television or the simulcast on HUD's web site.

This is an opportunity for all of HUD to come together and commemorate an event that has profoundly changed our world and ourselves.
