Deputy Secretary Roy Bernardi Presents YouthBuild Grant to Jubilee Homes, Syracuse, NY, on December 21, 2004

On Tuesday, December 21, 2004, Walter Dixie, Executive Director of Jubilee Homes in Syracuse, NY, was presented a $400,000 check by HUD's Deputy Secretary Roy Bernardi. The Youthbuild Grant will give high school dropouts a second chance. The 18 month program will train men and women between the ages of 16 to 24 in construction and provide an opportunity to earn their diplomas.  They will work side by side with experienced craftsmen to build 11 homes that will be offered to low-income families.
