Monday, September 19, 2005

HUD's St. Louis Field Office partnered with the St. Louis Association of Real Estate Professionals (SLAREP) to host the first St. Louis Metropolitan Homeownership Expo.

Held at the historically black college Harris Stowe State University, this event attracted more than 300 potential homebuyers. More than 65 companies in the housing industry, as well as Fannie Mae St. Louis Partnership Office and Freddie Mac took part. Representative William Lacey Clay and city of St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay also participated. The Homeownership Expo included various homebuyer educational courses such as Financial Literacy, Don't Borrow Trouble, the ABCs of the Homebuying Process, and Partnering with Faith Communities. According to Gail Brown-Rozelle, St. Louis Association of Real Estate Professionals President, this will become an annual event because of the overwhelming response from the community for educational events targeting potential homebuyers.
