Thursday, November 03, 2005

During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Public Housing staff from Jackson, Mississippi divided into teams to go to the areas most damaged by Katrina. Joe Brown, from the Jackson Office of Public Housing was sent to some of the hardest hit areas, including Biloxi, MS. A "HUD Virtual Office" was set up in the back of Joe's SUV with a computer and printer that allowed him to assist housing authority tenants and staff. Joe was able to help relocate residents to safe housing, make damage assessments, and aid housing authorities in their efforts to operate as fully functional as possible.
