Bridgot Barbour and her two twin daughters, Jacklen and Jessika, were building a life for themselves when Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. As devastating as the storm was, Katrina could not destroy their dreams and today, the Barbours are working to rebuild a new home with the help of Habitat for Humanity and HUD. A team of HUD volunteers joined hundreds of others on the Mall in Washington to construct 51 new homes that will be assembled throughout the devastated Gulf region. Shortly, the Barbour's new home will be placed on land acquired through HUD's HOME Investment Partnerships Program and together, Bridgot, Jacklen and Jessika will share in the dream of homeownership.
