HUD officials met with Mississippi and Alabama mayors

HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development Anna Maria Farias and HUD SE Regional Director Bob Young met with Biloxi MS, Moss Point MS, and Bayou La Batre, AL Mayors.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Anna Maria Farias and several of her Headquarters HUD Staff met with Biloxi Mayor A. J. Holloway and Moss Point Mayor Xavier Bishop in Biloxi. Representatives from Gulfport Mayor Brent Warr and Pascagoula Mayor Matthew Avara offices were also at the meeting. Regional Director Bob Young, Deputy RD Pat Hoban Moore, Regional PAO Officer, Linda Allen, Acting HUD Field Office Director Cassandra Terry and Mississippi HUD Staff were also represented at the meeting.

Later in the day, Deputy Assistant Secretary Anna Maria Farias, RD Young, and their staffs also met with Bayou La Batre Mayor Stan Wright, Mike Dean Mobile County Commission President and many residents. The College of Experts representatives, Habitat for Humanity representative and the HUD Alabama Field Office Director, Cindy Yarbrough and staff from the Birmingham HUD Office were also represented at the meeting.

The major point made during both meetings was - All three cities need special assistance to help coordinate and develop a plan of action to rebuild, and are asking for HUD's assistance in this process.
