The Villages of Park DuValle Festival of Homes 2006

Homeownership has long been the "American Dream" and making the dream a reality is the number one goal of HUD. In 2002, the Louisville Metro Housing Authority was awarded a HOPE VI grant to take the once blighted area of the former Cotter and Lang homes public housing developments in Louisville, Kentucky, and redevelop them into the Villages of Park DuValle. In addition to the HOPE IV grant, various other public and private partners provided funding.

Located in the west end of downtown Louisville, Park DuValle is almost complete. The final phase of the Villages of Park DuValle was launched on July 8, 2006, with a Festival of Homes 2006 open-homes tour of 10 model homes priced from $129,000 using nine different floor plans. This phase will see the completion of the HOPE VI revitalization project with a total of 613 mixed-finance rental units and 450 homeownership units, many of which have been made available to former public housing residents.

Congressional Representative Anne Northup and Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson were joined by many local civic leaders in welcoming hundreds of community residents to celebrate this successful, innovative model community within Metro Louisville.
