50 years ago a Topeka girl changed American history. Today, in celebration of Black History month, the San Diego HUD office learned of other African Americans who have shown strength, ingenuity, talent, and achievement in changing our society.

San Diego HUD staff members Frank Riley, Carol Lee, Charles J. Wilson, Sonia Martin, and Rogelio Ibarra participated in a Trivia Challenge. Not pictured are Lourdes Cruz, Victor Grigorian, and Myrna Pascual.

The staff gathered to listen to music, to eat good food, and to participate in a Trivia Challenge. The music was Al Green's, and the food was Louisiana fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, potato salad, roll, and apple pie. As we sipped on our iced tea, we answered questions about political and civil rights leaders, entertainers, athletes, authors, professors, and notable persons like Rosa Parks. Field Office Director, Charles J. Wilson, won the trivia contest and received a special prize. The lunchtime gathering added to our knowledge of the contributions by African Americans and to appreciating our individual diversity.
