Groundbreaking of Mile High VistaThis development includes the future West Denver Library, mixed-use multifamily housing and some commercial property. On August 2, 2011, a groundbreaking for the Mile High Vista Development took place on the Western Corridor of the West Colfax neighborhood. HUD is in partnership with the Denver Livability Partnership (DLP) supporting this for transit oriented development with capital funding of $15 million.
HUD Regional Administrator Rick Garcia expressed his gratitude toward the partners and stakeholders on site for their accomplishments. Regional Administrator Rick Garcia said, "The Urban Land Conservancy who were the managers of the development, The Del Norte Neighborhood & Development Corporation, the Transit Oriented Development fund, and the City & County of Denver were all huge players in planning the new community and improving the West Colfax Neighborhood. For this particular site, constructing quality housing is crucial to Denver, for it is a gateway to Downtown Denver." Garcia explained the extensive collaboration and cooperation of all stakeholders for the revitalization of Denver's economy and business corridor. "The future of this sustainable, energy-efficient site is exciting and is a positive transformation for the West Colfax area," said Garcia.
