Regional Director Macie Houston joined other housing advocates at a Fair Housing Month Proclamation signing with Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius on April 9th.

The month of April was National Fair Housing Month and this year marked the 40th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. Regional Director Macie Houston joined other housing advocates at a Fair Housing Month Proclamation signing with Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius on April 9th. The ceremony took place in the Governor's Chambers at the Capital building in Topeka. Representatives from several fair housing organizations in Kansas are pictured, along with Governor Sebelius and Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh. This year, for the first time, April 16 was designated Fair Housing Education Day in America. HUD employees visited elementary and middle schools across America to teach students about fair housing.
