Hope Center in Lexington is Designated HUD EnVision Center
Fourth EnVision Center Announced in Kentucky Since 2018

HUD SE Regional Administrator Denise Cleveland-Leggett officially designates Hope Center an EnVision Center in Lexington, Kentucky along with Hope Center leadership, staff, local partners and HUD staff.

HUD Southeast Regional Administrator Denise Cleveland-Leggett joined community leaders and stakeholders at the Hope Center's Don Ball Campus Center in Lexington, Kentucky as they received designation as a HUD EnVision Center.

"The Hope Center and Lexington community are to be congratulated for the selection of the Hope EnVision Center as the fourth such Center in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to receive this prestigious distinction," said HUD Southeast Regional Administrator Denise Cleveland-Leggett. "EnVision Centers serve as platforms of hope and opportunity by providing much-needed supportive services that help families achieve self-sufficiency, upward mobility, and their version of the American Dream."

HUD's EnVision Centers are premised on the notion that financial support alone can't solve the problem of poverty, and that collective efforts across a diverse set of organizations, both public and private, are needed to help low-income individuals and families rise out of it. The programs offered are based on the EnVision Center's four pillars: economic empowerment, educational advancement, health and wellness, and character development.

"The holistic and collaborative philosophy of EnVision Centers mirrors the Hope Center's approach of providing refuge, access to individualized services and connections to permanent housing resources for people experiencing or at risk of becoming homeless," said Janice James, Interim Executive Director of the Hope Center. "By utilizing this strategy and working with many community and corporate partners, we are able to improve the well-being and self-sufficiency of the hundreds of clients we serve across the community."

A congratulatory prerecorded video message (https://youtu.be/1SdotL4O6NY) from Secretary Ben Carson was viewed by those in attendance and Cleveland-Leggett presented a posthumous award and letter of appreciation in honor of the late Don R. Ball was presented to his wife Mira in honor of his work in affordable housing and efforts to advance Recovery Kentucky Centers (www.kyhousing.org/Programs/Pages/Recovery-Kentucky.aspx) throughout the Commonwealth.

Previously the Family Scholar House, the Housing Authority of Henderson, and the Housing Authority of Bowling Green were designated as HUD EnVision Centers in Kentucky. Find out more about HUD EnVision Centers.
