Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), HUD Staff, and other stakeholders from several states joined the 2-day Public Housing Repositioning virtual meeting with trainer Richelle Patton, President of Collaborative Housing Solutions. The training was hosted by the HUD Kentucky Office Public Housing Division.

The purpose of the training was to inform Public Housing Authorities of their repositioning options. The agenda included: Rental Assistance Demonstration, Streamlined Voluntary Conversions, Section 18 Demolition and Disposition, and Section 32 Homeownership.

Repositioning can help PHAs preserve affordable housing units, address rehabilitation and physical needs, and place properties on a more stable financial foundation.

"With many repositioning options available to PHAs, this training was very beneficial in helping them evaluate which options works best for their portfolios," said Carol Spencer, HUD Kentucky Office Public Housing Director.  "The ability to address each development with individual options also allows the community and residents to realize the best outcomes."

"Accessing equity and creating capital is critical for older public housing authorities needing substantial rehabilitation," said HUD Kentucky Field Office Director Peter Jackson. "This training gave the housing authorities knowledge of the tools available to help them revitalize their communities."
