HUD's Region 1 Director of Community Planning and Development, Robert D. Shumeyko, participated in a groundbreaking that was part of the City of Quincy, MA Community Development Week celebration on April 25, 2011. The Brewer's Corner project--funded with a combination of HUD CDBG-R and DOE Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funds--includes public infrastructure improvements in the Brewer's Corner neighborhood commercial area of Southwest Quincy.

The public improvement project will include the installation of traffic lights, sidewalks and curb reconstruction, ADA compliant ramps, associated roadway resurfacing and public amenities such as benches and street plantings at the Copeland Street/Water Street/Granite Street/Garfield Street intersection. Construction was initiated in late April and will be completed in two phases, with the bulk of the infrastructure to be completed over the course of this summer.
