It was July 22, 1957 when James B. Nutter Senior got the word that HUD had approved the local Kansas City, Missouri mortgage banking company as a Federal Housing Administration (FHA) lender. Since that day, the national mortgage banking firm has become a top FHA performer, endorsing 141,195 FHA loans for a total mortgage amount of over $11.6 billion dollars.

In honor of the 50 year anniversary as a successful FHA approved lender, the company celebrated by hosting a barbeque at its headquarters office located in the historic Westport area of Kansas City, Missouri. The celebration was complete with FHA balloons and a red, white and blue cake commemorating the spirit and commitment by both FHA and James B. Nutter & Company to strengthen America's communities by helping people become homeowners.

HUD's Regional Director Macie Houston, who is responsible for HUD programs in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska, was on hand to recognize Jim Nutter, Sr. and congratulate the entire company for its outstanding work in the community and across the nation.

FHA - which is a part of HUD - insures mortgage loans. With federal backing, lenders can offer homebuyers a better deal:

  • Low down payments
  • Low closing costs
