On March 4, 2008, the Jackson Field Office conducted a workshop on accessing resources for Faith- and Community-Based Organizations in Jackson, Mississippi. The workshop introduced faith-and community-based organizations to non-federal sources of funds that could support their affordable housing and service activities. To address their interest in the state's formula funding, a presentation was made on the State's HOME program and how to become certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDOs).

Presentations on funding opportunities were made by representatives from Enterprise Corporation of the Delta, Foundation for the Mid-South, Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, Mississippi Center for Nonprofits, Mississippi Development Authority, Foundation for Greater Jackson, NeighborWorks, and Mississippi Home Corporation. The workshop ultimately offered a flood of resources to enable faith and community based organizations to promote affordable housing opportunities to lower income persons and families.
Approximately 60 persons attended the workshop.
