Liberty Village Groundbreaking
Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman was the featured speaker at the Liberty Village groundbreaking ceremony on June 28, 2005. Liberty Village is an affordable housing project located near 24th & Vine Streets in Lincoln. It is the first major housing development in the Antelope Valley Redevelopment Project. When completed, the development will contain of 20 units, 16 of which will be detached single family homes and four townhouses. Liberty Village homes will be priced from $120,000 to $135,000. Down payment assistance and special loans through the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority will be available to qualified buyers. Liberty Village is also a "PATH Field Evaluation Project." PATH, or Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing, is a program for the development and use of technologies that improve the quality, durability, energy efficiency and affordability of America's housing. The Liberty Village development will incorporate PATH building technologies. Liberty Village project partners include the City of Lincoln, Neighbor Works, Straw Sticks and Bricks, 1st Choice Realty Team, RM101 Architects, Energy Star, Fannie Mae, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Nebraska Investment Finance Authority and Brighton Construction.
