On Friday, November 4, 2016, the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Director of Public Housing (PIH) Denise Gipson, staff Julie Steadman and LaNundra Colbert, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Victory Place Apartments in Grand Island, Nebraska.

With over 75 community leaders, veterans and citizens in attendance, the Victory Place Apartments staff was pleased to provide tours of the new property. The Victory Place Apartments were built on the north end of the Grand Island Veterans Hospital campus and feature 20 one bedroom units and six-two bedroom units.

Funding for the project comes from various sources through a variety of tax credits and other mechanisms, primarily from Grand Island's Community Redevelopment Authority, Nebraska Investment Finance Authority, Midwest Housing Equity Group, Nebraska Department of Economic Development and Hall County Housing Authority.

In addition, the project will utilize 13 project based vouchers and 13 HUD-VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) vouchers, specifically targeting veterans.
