Regional Administrator Jason Mohr Presents HUD-VASH Award to Omaha Housing Authority

Jason Mohr presenting award to local officials

HUD Great Plains Regional Administrator Jason Mohr joined Veterans Affairs (VA) and Omaha Housing Authority (OHA) officials for an award ceremony to present nearly $130,00 to provide a permanent home to veterans experiencing homelessness.

OHA received 25 vouchers through the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program which combines rental assistance from HUD with case management and clinical services provided by VA. Joplin has previously received HUD-VASH vouchers to support veterans housing across the city. With this latest award, the Joplin Housing Authority now has 157 VASH vouchers. In an April 6 news release HUD announced the award of more than 87,000 vouchers nationwide.

The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System/Omaha Campus will identify homeless veterans who are eligible for the services and housing vouchers and refer the vets to the housing agency.
