A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently for the new Victory II Apartments for homeless and at-risk veterans where former Marine Corps General John Kelly as the keynote speaker. The $8.2 million project celebrated the fourth homeless veteran-specific development in Nebraska. The 60-unit project is a result of the collaboration between the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA), and the Omaha Housing Authority funded through the HUD-VASH supportive housing program. Additionally, the project complements the adjacent Victory Apartments (Victory I), a $16 million, 90-unit property supported by 45 HUD-VASH vouchers completed in 2013. The Victory II Apartments will utilize 60 of the 319 HUD-VASH vouchers in the Omaha metro area, and the 519 state-wide. The transitional and permanent supportive housing property includes laundry facilities, a gym, a fitness center, and community space.
