On November 2, 2009, the Paterson Housing Authority broke ground for the construction of an elderly housing complex. Belmont Senior Apartments is being developed in the heart of Paterson, New Jersey.

The four-story complex will house 85 subsidized elderly rental units consisting of eighty-one one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units. Construction is expected to take approximately 14 months to complete.

The $24 million development is being financed by several federal sources including HUD, the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA). HUD's allocation will be from the Replacement Housing Factor (RHF) Fund Grant program.

The development will clean-up and stabilize a formerly vacant, abandoned and environmentally-contaminated site.
