Jersey City Housing Authority Receives $9.7 Million HOPE VI Grant to Revitalize the A. Harry Moore Development

In Jersey City, the Senator Menendez, Congressman Albio Sires, and Mayor Jerramiah Healy joined Secretary Donovan Region II Regional Administrator Adolfo Carrión and Newark Field Office Director Diane Johnson to announce a $9.7 million grant to revitalize the A. Harry Moore development. Senator Menendez is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation and Community Development of the Senate Banking Committee. Under Jersey City's HOPE VI grant, a total of 277 distressed units will be demolished, and replaced with 299 units both on- and off-site, including public housing units, market-rate rental units, and 74 affordable homeownership units. As part of the revitalization plan, the Board of Education will construct and operate a new on-site 6-classroom Pre-K Program.
