HUD Region II Regional Administrator Lynne Patton highlights HUD funding and subsidies for the development.

New Housing for Families, Veterans, and the Formerly Homeless to be Built in Edison, New Jersey.

HUD Region II Regional Administrator, Lynne Patton; joined Pennrose Developer Regional Vice President, Jacob Fisher; Township of Edison Mayor Thomas Lankey; Edison Housing Authority, Executive Director, Deborah Hurley; NJ State Assemblyman, Robert J. Karabinchak; and Middlesex County Freeholder, Charles E. Tomaro; for the groundbreaking of Truman Square, Phase I. Located on the former U.S. Army Camp Kilmer base, the two-phase brand new family rental community will create 172 units of high-quality, affordable housing for families, veterans, and formerly homeless individuals in Edison, NJ.

Phase 1 will feature one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartment homes. Apartments will be affordable at a variety of income tiers, and many will be designated for veterans, the formerly homeless, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Residents will also enjoy an inviting community room, fitness center, secured access entry, and on-site laundry facilities.

HUD provided $400,000 in HOME funds; and 10 project-based vouchers through the Edison Housing Authority.
