Elizabeth, New Jersey Residents, Businesses Highlight HUD's CDBG Program


The City of Elizabeth, New Jersey celebrated Community Development Week, highlighting HUD's CDBG Program and the partners that do so much for Elizabeth residents. HUD Newark Field Office Director, Justin Scheid; HUD CPD Director, Annemarie Uebbing; Elizabeth Mayor, J. Christian Bollwage; and the City of Elizabeth Planning & Community Development, Director Eduardo J. Rodriguez and Program Director Victoria Rivera invited Elizabeth partners that receive HUD federal funding from the City of Elizabeth.

The event highlighted CDBG funding received in 2020 and 2021, as well as $2.5 million in CDBG-CV allocated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Grantees outlined how they used the funding to assist Elizabeth residents and businesses during this difficult time.

City of Elizabeth sub-grantees Elizabeth Development Company, Elizabeth Coalition for the Homeless, Community Access Unlimited(www.caunj.org), Jefferson Park Day Care, The Trinitas Health Foundation, PrepBoyz, Thor Xpress, and Temple Development daycare services provided heartwarming testimonials describing how CDBG funding helped residents cope, and businesses continue to open their doors.
