Schenectady, NY - HUD, Gary McCarthy, Mayor of the City of Schenectady, as well as the cities of Albany, Troy, Saratoga Springs, and Amsterdam, will host the Strengthening Cities, Communities, and Homes Summit, to bring together all housing partners in federal, state, and local governments, as well as realtors, financial institutions, community developers, non-profits, housing counselors, advocates, and educators to discuss how to use available resources to optimize housing options for millions of residents in the Capitol Region.

To make the most of the housing recovery, the Strengthening Cities, Communities, and Homes Summit will gather the best and the brightest from the Capital Region and the Nation’s Capital to work closer together, discuss best practices, and pool resources so that area communities can continue the upward trend so necessary in providing decent, affordable housing that will enable families to thrive.

The event will feature morning and afternoon concurrent breakout sessions on housing and finance related issues such as: federal, state, and local housing programs; fair housing; the principles of homeownership, home sales and realty; multifamily development, rural housing, mortgage financing; homelessness, veteran homelessness and services; community planning and development; health services; substance abuse resources; and housing counseling.
