HUD recently awarded $3,592,570 to end youth homelessness to Homeless Alliance of Western New York, the lead agency for both the Continuum of Care (CoC) and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming and Orleans Counties.

HUD Buffalo Field Office Director Lisa Pugliese presented a ceremonial check to Homeless Alliance of Western New York, Executive Director, Dale Zuchlewski, and HAWNY Board of Directors at Homeless Project Connect, a yearly event held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Project Homeless Connect, organized by Kathleen Heim, Nadia Pizarro, and Jean Bennett, brings together over 60 service providers on a single day to assist hundreds of homeless individuals in the Buffalo area.

This federal funding was awarded through HUD's Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) (https://files.hudexchange.info/resources/documents/YHDP-Fact-Sheet.pdf) to help communities build local systems and support a wide range of housing programs including rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, transitional housing, and host homes.
