HUD, HHS, Sun River Health Provide COVID Vaccines and Tests to Monticello Housing Authority Residents
To address the lack of access to COVID-19 vaccinations at the Monticello Housing Authority, HUD, HHS, and Sun River Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center partnered to bring vaccines and at-home COVID test kits to the residents. HUD Supervisory Management Analyst Angela Aloia coordinated the effort, working with Sun River Health and the Monticello Housing Authority to ensure residents who had not been able to access COVID vaccines received them close to home. Sherry Wyckoff, Sun River Health's Vice President of Operations for the Hudson Valley, and Krista Miller, Director of Public Health Nursing, provided free 1st and 2nd dose COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots to anyone aged 12 and older. HUD Region II Regional Administrator Alicka Ampry-Samuel traveled to Monticello to join the COVID vaccination event and meet residents and staff at the Monticello Housing Authority. The vaccination effort stemmed from the partnership created by HUD and HHS in 2021 to increase access to COVID-19 prevention and treatment services, including COVID-19 tests and vaccines among disproportionately affected populations nationwide. This includes HUD-assisted households. Previously, HUD, HHS, and Sun River Health partnered to provide COVID-19 vaccines in Poughkeepsie and Kingston, New York. ### |
