Earned Income Tax Credit up to $4,300

The Earned Income Tax Credit could help bring homeownership within reach of Ohio's low-income working individuals and families. Ohio HUD offices and the IRS have joined forces to reach out to thousands of non-profits and faith-based groups to remind them of this important potential cash resource.

The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program offer free tax help for qualified persons. To locate the nearest site, call 1-800-829-1040. Hearing impaired persons may call 800-829-4059. Volunteers are ready to help. Many sites also offer free electronic filing (e-filing). The IRS will send full refunds directly to families that qualify, unlike those "get your refund in a hurry" services, which provide an instant refund, but keep a percentage of it as a fee.
