HUD Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Joe DeFelice made a special trip to Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, on June 18, 2018, to join Rep. Keith Rothfus (PA-12th District) for a tour of an inpatient treatment program for teens struggling with addiction.

"Although the Ridgeway treatment center does not receive federal funding, I was eager to learn how it supports young people," said DeFelice. "I'm thankful I had the opportunity to meet with a group of teens and to hear how their recovery is going."

The 42-bed residential program is unique in that it offers teens a way to continue their education while receiving treatment—the academic program is led by Pennsylvania Department of Education-certified teachers.

While in the area, DeFelice drove to the city of Aliquippa. With blight being one of his key priorities, he walked through communities, observing distressed areas and businesses that are in need of economic revitalization. He plans to follow-up with local officials to offer guidance on available local, state and federal resources.
