West Warwick Housing Authority continues efforts to keep residents safe from COVID-19

A West Warwick Housing Authority resident receives a COVID-19 rapid test kit from a housing authority staff member.

The West Warwick Housing Authority's Resident Services staff distributed Covid-19 antigen rapid test kits to residents on January 20 and 21.

Over 200 residents at West Warwick Manor and Clyde Tower visited their community rooms to receive their free test kits.

"I am really pleased the housing authority is doing this," said Bill Bradley, a resident at West Warwick's Clyde Tower apartments. "So many people have concerns about the virus. These kits will allow us to self-test right in our own homes to see if we are infected."

West Warwick Housing Authority held three vaccination clinics in 2021 at both of their developments which are home to elderly and disabled residents. "We have been out front on this issue," said Kelly Connelly, the housing authority's Resident Services Manager. Most recently, the housing authority has been working to arrange an on-site COVID-19 booster clinic for residents but in the meantime have been arranging booster shot appointments for residents at a local pharmacy.

"We have been very fortunate that we haven't had a major outbreak of the virus at our developments," said Stephen J. O'Rourke, the authority's executive director.
