HUD SOUTHEAST REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR ED JENNINGS JR., NAMES LARRY KNIGHTNER AS HUD'S SOUTH CAROLINA FIELD OFFICE DIRECTOR

ATLANTA, GA - U.S. Housing and Urban Development Southeast Regional Administrator Ed Jennings, Jr., today announced the selection of Larry Knightner to serve as HUD Field Office Director for the state of South Carolina
as of November 21, 2010.

In his new position, Knightner will serve as HUD's liaison to mayors, city managers, elected representatives, state
and local officials, congressional delegations, nonprofit groups, private entities, faith based groups, other
stakeholders and individual Americans. He will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of HUD programs and
services to communities and individuals, as well as evaluating their efficiency and effectiveness.

"We are extremely fortunate to have such an experienced hand to address the challenges in one of our fastest growing states," said HUD Regional Administrator Ed Jennings, Jr. "With more than three decades of housing experience, Larry knows the Agency inside and out and he is well known and respected among HUD’s partners throughout the state."

Office Director" said Knightner. "I look forward to working closely with all of our HUD partners at the federal, state
and local government levels as well as our non-profit agencies to better the lives and housing conditions of the citizens of South Carolina."

Knightner began his federal career with HUD in 1978. Most recently, he served as Director of the Columbia, South Carolina Public Housing Program Center. In addition to his HUD Career, Knightner served a combined total of 40 years in the Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve Components of the United States Army. He retired from the United States Army Reserves as a Major General on October 16, 2008. His last military assignment was Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Accessions Command.

Knightner holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Atlanta University. A resident of Columbia, Larry and his wife Tonja have two adult children: Joielle Dorian and Jason Lamar.
