Nashville HUD Office Celebrates Habitat for Humanity 4000th House Built in Tennessee

Habitat for Humanity celebrated with the Nashville HUD Office the beginning of its 4000th house built in the State of Tennessee with a wall raising ceremony. Congratulations were extended to the selected homebuyer Harold Allen, a local Vietnam Veteran, and native of Franklin, TN.

Over 70 supporters converged from all over the State to mark this important milestone. Dignitaries included Franklin Mayor Dr. Ken Moore; Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson; Todd Berry, Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati; Patricia Smith and Josh Gibson, Tennessee Housing Development Agency; Don Harris, USDA-Rural Development State Office; Sernorma Mitchell, US Dept. of HUD-Nashville; Ed Ellis, US Dept. of HUD-Knoxville; John Gemmill, US Dept. of HUD-Memphis; Colleen Dudley, Executive Director Habitat for Humanity TN; Chad Martin, Mark Cox and Shannan Brennan, Eco-Energy; several members of American Legion 215; Habitat TN State Board Members Pam Birtcil, Tony Gibbons, Lucile Houseworth, Becket Moore, James Pryor, Colleen Sauve and Joe Walker; and Habitat affiliate representatives from Bedford County, Blount County, Cleveland, Nashville and Rutherford County.

Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee, Inc., (HFHT), a nonprofit, statewide support organization strives to provide services related to advocacy, training and resource development to Tennessee's 51 Habitat for Humanity affiliates who serve 63 counties to build and sell simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need. In addition to being a centralized resource for Habitat offices around the state, HFHT works toward establishing partnerships with corporations and government agencies to further the mission of the Habitat program in Tennessee.
