Learning Center Benefits Costa Brava

The Villas at Costa Brava Apartment Homes recently celebrated the completion of their Community Learning Center by hosting an open house for residents and community members. Costa Brava is a 250-unit family development. It offers two- and three-bedroom apartments and townhouses to a mix of tax credit, market rate and Section 8 tenants. The Community Learning Center is centrally located in the community's clubhouse, which also houses the leasing office and fitness center.

The Community Learning Center features six computers, a printer and Internet access. It offers a variety of programs geared to both youth and adults and provides educational, recreational, character-building and social activities. Residents receive a monthly calendar of events, including themed activities. In February, events include celebrations and educational events relating to Black History Month, Children's Dental Health Month and Responsible Pet Owners Month. The center also hosts tutoring services, homework assistance, fitness classes and quarterly crime watch meetings.

Project Manager Marcelo M. Barron and San Antonio Field Office Director Luz Day represented HUD. They presented Resident Manager Olivia Panciera with a certificate of achievement acknowledging Costa Brava Apartment Homes' assistance in "helping to create a vibrant community that fosters economic opportunity and life-long learning."
