NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LATINO COMMUNITY ASSET BUILDERS (NALCAB) IN SAN ANTONIO RECEIVES $1 MILLION HUD GRANT TO ASSIST IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING EFFORTS IN RURAL AREAS
FORT WORTH - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Region VI Regional Administrator Tammye Treviño today announced that the National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB), headquartered in San Antonio, has received a $1 million grant under HUD's Rural Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing Program. A total of $4,738,470 was awarded to four grantees nationwide.
The Rural Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing Programsupports national nonprofit organizations with expertise in rural housing and community development to carry out development and affordable housing activities, in conjunction with local governments and community housing development organizations (CHDOs) that benefit low- and moderate-income families and persons in rural areas.
"We're very pleased that NALCAB has been chosen to receive this grant," said HUD Regional Administrator Tammye Treviño. "Given the recent economic crisis, the need for affordable housing has increased everywhere, but rural communities face unique challenges in meeting those needs.
