Every day at Neighborhood Networks Centers across the United States, residents discover that employment, academic and life-enriching opportunities surround them. Every year, a week is set aside to celebrate the opportunities and successes that can be found at these Centers. 2007's Neighborhood Networks Week was June 25-29.

To help celebrate Neighborhood Networks Week, five centers in the Northwest sponsored Open Houses. They were held at Pine Villa Apartments, Park Tower, and Grace Court in Spokane, and Tri Cities Terrace I and Tri Cities Terrace II in the Tri-Cities. Over 100 residents attended these events. Each center is independently owned, but they are all managed by the Goodale and Barbieri Company (G&B). Karen Heppler, the Neighborhood Network Coordinator for G&B, was the hostess at Pine Villa, Park Tower and Grace Court. Rebecca Knight was the hostess for the Tri-Cities events.

During Neighborhood Networks Week, Pine Villa celebrated a new Partnership with Holiday Companies, Inc. This new partner donates items weekly to the residents. Another partner, The Kiwanis Club, offered free books to the children during the event.

At the Grace Court Open House, Betty Albrecht, one of the original board members, was recognized for her 18 years of service to the community. Ms. Albrecht was a founding member of this apartment community, and contributed many hours to ensure the residents were offered every opportunity to live independently and enjoy their senior years.

Holding an Open House is only one way to celebrate Neighborhood Networks Week. It's never too early to start planning an event for your center for next year's Neighborhood Networks Week celebration.
