On Saturday, August 9, 2003, the South Side "Original City" Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area Task Force of Cheyenne, Wyoming presented their Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA) Plan to the Mayor of Cheyenne, Jack R. Spiker and HUD. After a press conference, residents of the South Side participated in a day-long celebration in Lincoln Park. A block party included free food cooked by the police department, music and entertainment, door prizes and free swimming at the Johnson Pool.

The press conference and celebration were the culmination of more than a year-long process of public information gathering, focus group meetings and the formation of a task force to develop the NRSA plan. This is the first NRSA submitted to HUD for approval from the state of Wyoming.
