CHRIS STEARNS NAMED HUD FIELD OFFICE DIRECTOR FOR WYOMING

CASPER, WY - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced the selection of Chris Stearns to fill the position of Field Office Director for the state of Wyoming, based in Casper. Stearns has been employed by the Department as a community builder in the San Antonio, Texas office and, most recently, as a program manager in the Office of Community Planning and Development, Region VIII, Denver, Colorado.

In his new position, Stearns will serve as the senior HUD official for the state of Wyoming and will oversee HUD programs and services for communities throughout the state. He said, "I'm looking forward to serving as the Department's liaison to our partners and customers, and am confident that by working together we can achieve our common goals."

Stearns has held city manager and assistant city manager positions in both Colorado and Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy, earned a Masters of Public Administration from the University of West Florida, and is currently completing the requirements for his Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Stearns is a Major in the Air Force Reserve and recently served 10 months active duty flying missions in the war against terrorism. He is a member in good standing of the Reserve Officers Association, the American Society for Public Administration, and the International City/County Managers Association.
