The Phoenix, Arizona, Continuum of Care covers the Cities of Chandler, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria City, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe and Maricopa County. Organizations that assisted in the development of the Continuum of Care include, but are not limited to the Arizona Departments of Commerce, Economic Security, Health Services; Phoenix Housing Department, Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department; Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness; ComCare Community Planning Task Force; the Maricopa County Task Force Against Domestic Violence; Nonprofit organizations, private developers, foundations, and local businesses. Key elements of the Continuum of Care are: (1) develop a range of housing options to include emergency, transitional and permanent housing; (2) develop advanced technological electronic linkages among providers; (3) establish a coordinated blend of resources and funding from all levels of government and the private sector; (4) assign a high priority in addressing the needs of homeless persons with behavioral health problems; and (5) develop a full array of employment-related service options for homeless persons.
