Savannah/Catham County, Georgia

The Savannah Chatham Continuum of Care covers the City of Savannah, Georgia, and the County of Chatham. Development of the continuum of care mobilized the active participation of some 158 social service organizations, religious congregations, nonprofit homeless providers, governments and banks and included homeless and formerly homeless people as well. The Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless guided continuum of care development. Key elements of Savannah's vision for its Continuum of Care are: (1) Reduction in the number of people returning to homelessness through the establishment of a Housing Support Team; (2) institution of a single community-wide Life Skills Curriculum; and (3) provision of active legal representation to reduce the number of evictions.
