Trenton, New Jersey

The Trenton, New Jersey, Continuum of Care covers the City of Trenton. Over 60 homeless advocates and providers, supportive service agency directors, resident association leaders, private developers, planners and architects, social workers, property owners, clergy, environmentalists, bank presidents, city employees, education and health care workers, small business development specialists, researchers, and various state agency representatives were involved in guiding the development of the Continuum of Care as members of the Mayor's coordinating committee. Key elements of the Continuum of Care are: (1) helping low income families avoid becoming homeless, (2) reaching out to homeless persons and assessing their individual needs, (3) addressing emergency shelter and transitional housing needs of homeless persons, and (4) helping homeless persons make the transition to permanent housing and independent living.
