The Dallas, Texas, Continuum of Care covers all of the City of Dallas. Over 25 non-profit homelessness assistance providers, business representatives, formerly homeless people, and government officials were involved in the development of the Continuum of Care which was guided by the City of Dallas Department of Environmental and Health Services. Key elements of the Continuum of Care are: (1) plans for implementation of a centralized integrated electronic system to link agencies providing housing and services to homeless families through a computerized client referral, tracking, and information system; (2) increased focus on supportive service projects which serve residents or potential residents of transitional housing and permanent supportive housing programs; and (3) plans to build on the existing Continuum of Care system by maintaining the capacity of those components that are stronger and by strengthening components where the gaps are the most serious.
