The Seattle/King County Continuum of Care includes the City of Seattle, 34 suburban cities, and the unincorporated areas of King County. Over 850 organizations and local governments, as well as numerous individuals, played a role this last year through current "Progress Reports" and questionnaires, focus groups and subpopulation workshops under the guidance of the McKinney Steering Committee. Key elements for improving its Continuum of Care include: (1) coordinated and client-centered approaches to service delivery through the creation of city and county Homeless Advisory Boards, (2) expanded housing and linking of its homelessness and housing strategies, (3) increased sensitivity to cultural differences, (4) the development of system wide performance measures, and (5) the consolidation of service programs through a regional community information network, consistent screening and intake procedures, and joint review and assessment of single adults.
