STATEMENT FROM HUD SECRETARY ALPHONSO JACKSON ON LOUISIANA'S ROAD HOME PROGRAM

"Today, I am pleased to announce that HUD has reached a tentative agreement with the State of Louisiana to revise its Road Home Program, providing direct compensation to all homeowners. We are still in the process of ironing out some minor details and will continue to work with the State to reach agreement on those points very soon.

"I am hopeful that thousands of families torn from their homes will receive the help they need to restore their lives and their neighborhoods. I continue to support the State's efforts to help these families as quickly as possible, and I believe that Louisiana is moving in that direction. HUD will offer any necessary technical assistance and guidance to the State during this period so that we accelerate the pace of recovery in Louisiana."
