HUD's Two-Week Review

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge and Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman participated in events throughout the past two weeks to amplify the Biden-Harris Administration's Build Back Better agenda and its investments in housing including rehabilitation and sustainability, economic development, and community revitalization. Combined, they visited Detroit, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; Rock Hill, South Carolina; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Englewood and Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Secretary Fudge Travels to Chicago to Promote Build Back Better Agenda

U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge traveled to Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, October 5, to amplify the Biden-Harris Administration's Build Back Better agenda and its investments in housing construction and rehabilitation, economic development, and community revitalization.

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Secretary Fudge held an event at Casa Queretaro about how the Build Back Better agenda will support Latino communities. In the afternoon, Secretary Fudge visited Concordia Place, a HUD-assisted property that recently underwent significant updates to improve substandard living conditions. Secretary Fudge stressed her commitment to ensuring HUD-assisted properties offer safe, stable homes.

Secretary Fudge Travels to Detroit for Build Back Better Events

U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge participated in events in Detroit, Michigan this week to amplify the Biden-Harris Administration's Build Back Better agenda and its investments in housing construction and rehabilitation, economic development, and community revitalization.

On Sunday, October 3, Secretary Fudge delivered a keynote address at the Detroit Branch NAACP's 66th Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner. On Monday, October 4, Secretary Fudge visited the Thome Rivertown Neighborhood and Delta Manor, both Section 202 senior housing communities, and Clement Kern Gardens, an 86-unit complex that will be developed as part of a $30 million HUD Choice Neighborhoods grant. The development is an example of how the Build Back Better agenda's investments in housing and HUD programs will revitalize communities.

Secretary Fudge Travels to Atlanta, Georgia for Build Back Better Events

U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Fudge traveled to Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, September 27, for events with local leaders and elected officials including Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock, and U.S. Representative Nikema Williams. Deputy Secretary Todman Travels to New Jersey to Survey Damage from Hurricane Ida

Deputy Secretary Todman traveled to Englewood and Elizabeth, New Jersey on Monday, September 27, to survey damage from Hurricane Ida, meet with local, state, and federal representatives and leaders, and tour local affordable housing complexes. Deputy Secretary Todman reiterated HUD's commitment to helping people impacted by the hurricane to recover and rebuild, and promoted Build Back Better investments to upgrade, rehabilitate, and make more sustainable the nation's stock of affordable housing. Secretary Fudge Travels to the Carolinas to Visit Tribal Community, Amplify Build Back Better

Secretary Fudge traveled to Rock Hill, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday, September 28. Secretary Fudge's trip began with a visit to the Catawba Nation in Rock Hill, where she participated in a roundtable discussion with Tribal Council members and residents and visited affordable housing developments on the reservation. Secretary Fudge underscored the Administration's commitment to diplomacy and partnership with Tribal Nations. In Charlotte, Secretary Fudge met with Mayor Vi Lyles. Together, they toured an affordable housing complex and spoke with residents about how the Build Back Better agenda will revitalize communities. Deputy Secretary Todman Joins Jon Bon Jovi for Event on Homelessness

Deputy Secretary Todman participated in a virtual event on Tuesday, September 28 with Jon Bon Jovi, his wife Dorothea Hurley, and Sister Mary Scullion, Executive Director of Project HOME in Philadelphia for an event hosted by the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation for the homeless. Deputy Secretary Todman highlighted the recent launch of House America, the Administration's an all-hands-on-deck initiative to address the nation's homelessness crisis.
