Brief Description
Neighborhood Networks has reversed the federal government's traditional top-down approach to multifamily housing management. Is has also opened new economic opportunities by encouraging residents, owners and managers of HUD-assisted housing to create on-site, computer learning centers with the help of other community partners - public and private. The computer learning centers provide access to job skills training, formal education and community services, as well as employment opportunities. The Neighborhood Networks initiative has turned large numbers of troubled HUD-assisted (insured and/or subsidized) multifamily housing developments into pivotal building blocks for strong communities.
