Approximately 25 residents recently formed a scooter/wheelchair brigade to participate in the annual Heights Festival Parade. It was a wonderful opportunity to show gratitude for our country and our troops. The scooters and wheelchairs were decorated with signs on the backs, "God Bless America" and "God Bless Our Troops". The residents wore matching T-shirts that were given to them by Heights House management. What a great event it was!

This annual Heights Area Festival typically draws at least 100,000 attendees. During this time, Heights Boulevard, the street where Heights House Apartments is located, is closed to traffic, and the festival covers about seven nearby streets along Heights Boulevard. Vendors of food, crafts, etc., are plentiful. The parade has floats, marching bands, and is attended by official dignitaries.

According to Linda Holder and Donna Clabaugh, the Manager and Assistant Manager of the Heights House Community, the festival really makes a difference in the lives of these elderly residents and provides them with an opportunity to take part in making a difference and in helping make the world a better place.
